Established in 2003 by several of the same founders of Be Brilliant! Tutoring, LLC, the Bronx Charter School for Better Learning’s (BBL) core pedagogy is what we utilize at our tutoring center.

The two charts above compare the pre-pandemic achievement of BBL students to that of their peers, most notably the overall average subset of the wealthiest school districts in New York State.

The children at BBL – 80% of whom live in poverty – outperformed their far wealthier peers in both English Language Arts (reading and writing) and in mathematics!

The outstanding results did not depend on an emphasis on test prep or on conditioning students to respond in a pre-determined, narrow manner.  Instead BBL’s and Be Brilliant!’s shared approach supports establishing a deep understanding of content, which assures strong mastery of subject matter, while preserving a love of learning.
